Dominated by the 11th century Norman castle and Cathedral which sit side by side, high in the hillside, Arundel Castle has been home to the Duke of Norfolk & their ancestors for over 800 years, so it’s well worth a visit. So too is the Cathedral of our Lady & St Philip Howard- a Victorian gothic cathedral designed by Joseph Hanson.
The river Arun winds its way around the town and is a magnet for wildlife. With more than 60 acres of ponds, lakes and reed beds, Arundel Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre attracts some of the world’s most spectacular ducks, geese and swans.
Burpham and Arundel have some of the most fantastic routes for walkers and cyclists to enjoy. Maps are available for Burpham at the George & Dragon Inn and also Arundel tourist information centre.

We were voted No1 Pub to walk to in the UK by the Sunday Telegraph in 2009........and rightly so (in our humble opinion!)
"My advice to anyone is go to Burpham, walk around this pretty village and eat at the George & Dragon. All three are superb!”
